Description
The Siemens CM 1542-1 (6GK7542-1AX00-0XE0) communication module is an Industrial Ethernet interface designed to expand S7-1500 controllers with powerful PROFINET and open communication capabilities. It supports TCP/IP, ISO-on-TCP, UDP, IP multicast, SNMPv1, and time synchronization through NTP, making it suitable for complex industrial networking requirements. The module includes two RJ45 ports operating at 10/100 Mbit/s, allowing seamless integration into PROFINET networks as both an IO Controller and IO Device.
It supports up to 128 PROFINET IO devices, including 64 IRT-capable devices, and enables up to 64 simultaneous connections for open or S7 communication. The module also handles static IP routing, MRP ring redundancy, and provides switch functionality for industrial networks. Engineering and configuration are performed through STEP 7 Professional (TIA Portal V14 or higher).
Operating within temperatures of 0 to 60°C, the CM 1542-1 is built in the S7-1500 compact single-width form factor, featuring IP20 protection, a 3.3 W power loss, and compatibility with DIN-rail mounting.
